À propos du projet
230 kV line - River Crossing
Emplacement Trois-Rivieres
Secteur(s) d'activité High-voltage transmission lines
Description
We carried out the replacement of the conductors on this 1.4-kilometer river crossing over the St. Lawrence River, supplying the Kruger plant. The project was completed in partnership with Hydro-Québec, which relied on our expertise to develop the work methods and perform mechanical tension calculations during conductor stringing.
The project presented numerous technical challenges: halting marine traffic during specific phases of the work, using barges to ensure the cable never touched the water, managing strong river currents, working at significant tower heights (120 meters), and handling conductor tensions reaching approximately 48,000 lbs (215 kN).
